Everything Must Go

I’m in love with Craigslist. I’ve known about the site forever and visit it at least once a week, but never thought about posting anything on the site. A couple of big items (my football table, pool table and drums) were sitting around collecting dust when I came up with the genius idea to post them on Craigslist, maybe get rid of them. The pool table had like ten bites, the football had a few and the drum set had one bite. I happen to be shopping in Walmart when I noticed two guys standing in front of a pool table deciding on whether to buy it or not. I excused myself and walked over to them, telling them I was selling a pool table. They came over the next day to check out the table and bought it. I was really glad they did, that meant no other weirdos in my house looking at my stuff. Some guy came over tonight to buy the drums and I have to say, he was very easy on the eyes. Young twenty-something with brown hair and a little bit of facial hair. Nice build and all. All he needed was money and a big dick. And yes, you did just read that.

The reason I’m trying to get rid of the bigger items (except the air hockey table) is I’m looking to buy a house. Yes, I have decided to stay in Philly and have found a house that I’m quite fond of. I have no idea why.. it’s still in the neighborhood I’m in, but it’s growing on me more and more. It’s a twin, which doesn’t make me happy. I will never EVER move into another row home since all I ever get is asshole neighbors. Since it’s a twin, it has someone on one side .. but I always see the neighbor doing yard work and he looks like an alright guy. He listens to WMMR, so no loud rap music or same Blink 182 song over and over again like the neighbors we have now.

The house does have pergo floors .. which isn’t exactly a high point. And the artificial fire place will be going if it’s too cheesy. If not, I can throw candles in there and be done with it. Nearly all the walls will have to be repainted, cause the colors that are on the walls now are just plain hideous. The backyard is big enough for me to get a dog too! I am very excited about the possibility of purchasing a small dog. Maybe a Yorkie or Mini Pincher. Oh and here’s the best thing – no kids!! The block is full of adults and elderly people. I love it.

Christmas Songs

I have a love/hate relationship with Christmas music. I like it at appropriate times. Like when I’m baking cookies to give out to everyone or Christmas morning while opening gifts and eating those special pancakes my brother makes (the ones he uses up all the expensive extracts I buy for my cookies and cakes, etc). I hate being forced to listen to it before Thanksgiving til after the new year begins.. And the radio stations here in Philadelphia are utterly ridiculous. Not just one, but TWO have been playing nonstop Christmas songs since before Thanksgiving. Perhaps I’m making a big deal out of nothing at all.. but people who listen to music other than rap, r&b, and jazz hardly have anything to listen to in Philly as it is. We’ve got two rock stations left and after Howard Stern goes off the air, one of them is making a leap to an all-talk station.

What was I complaining about? Oh yeah.. Christmas music. I’m pretty much open to Christmas music. I don’t discriminate, I listen to everything. Come to think of it, that’s not exactly true. I really don’t dig that whole comedy Christmas thing. Grandma Got Run Over By a Reindeer? No thanks. Bubblegum Christmas? Again, no thanks. So I stayed up last night trying to come up with my own Christmas album and I did and I love it. And I uploaded it to my Dell DJ and I’m actually listening to it while going to work or doing the dishes (yes I wear my mp3 player while doing dishes). Here’s the listing:

1) Chris Cornell – Ave Maria
2) Tom Jones & Cerys Matthews – Baby, it’s Cold Outside
3) Tom Petty & the Heartbreakers – Christmas, All Over Again
4) The Waitresses – Christmas Wrapping
5) Smashing Pumpkins – Christmastime
6) The Kinks – Father Christmas
7) Fiona Apple – Frosty the Snowman
8) John Lennon – Happy Christmas (War is Over)
9) Coldplay – Have Yourself a Merry Little Christmas
10) Jimmy Eat World – Last Christmas
11) Jessica & Ashlee Simpson – Little Drummer Boy
12) The Ramones – Merry Christmas (I Don’t Want to Fight Tonight)
13) Tracy Chapman – O Holy Night
14) No Doubt – Oi to the World
15) Jon Bon Jovi – Please Come Home for Christmas
16) Ronnie Spector & Darlene Love – Rockin’ Around the Christmas Tree
17) Madonna – Santa Baby
18) Cyndi Lauper – Silent Night
19) Queen – Thank God it’s Christmas
20) The Flaming Lips – White Christmas
21) Phantom Planet – Winter Wonderland
22) Brian Setzer – You’re a Mean One, Mr. Grinch

I also downloaded George Michael’s version of ‘Last Christmas’. I just love how breathy his voice sounds. I’m trying to think of any songs to add to my growing list. No Rat Pack, Elvis, Bing or Perry. Too many of those CDs as it is.
